Content warning: sexual assault and rape

This page serves to gather and summarize all known evidence about how Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron actively support Nikolaj Sørensen, who has been accused of violent rape. For a complete timeline of the Nikolaj Sørensen alleged sexual assault case, please click here.

Sørensen is Fournier Beaudry’s former ice dance partner and current romantic partner. Additionally, he is also a close friend of Cizeron. Fournier Beaudry has made multiple comments in support of Sørensen and attempted to discredit his alleged victim. Five days after the Sørensen rape allegation first became public in January 2024, Fournier Beaudry posted a since-deleted post on her Instagram saying, “while I strongly believe that everyone must be protected and safe in sport, I know that my partner is a man of integrity, respect and kindness.” Later, at Skate Canada’s media day for the upcoming 2024 World Championships, Fournier Beaudry told reporters she had “full support” for Sørensen and called dealing with the allegations “difficult” and “a challenge” (sources: SportsNet and In The Loop). During Media Day, Fournier Beaudry also stood beside Sørensen as he denied the allegations and told reporters the “intention” of his alleged victim was to “damage” him (source: USA Today).

After the allegations against Sørensen were made public, Cizeron’s then-ice dance partner Gabriella Papadakis requested not to train with Sørensen. This request would have been possible for the Ice Academy of Montreal to meet, as they train so many teams that they stagger training sessions throughout the day. In her memoir Pour ne pas disparaître, Papadakis writes that after Guillaume learns of her request, “he comes onto the ice, furious. He ignores me, skating with abrupt jerky movements that frighten me… he’s angry. I don’t know what to do to calm him down” (Pour ne pas disparaître, pg. 226).

In the time between the allegations being made public and Sørensen being banned, Cizeron choreographed Fournier Beaudry/Sørensen’s free skate for the 2024/2025 season. In an August 2024 video from Golden Skate, Sørensen tells a reporter the story of how Cizeron approached them at the end of the 2024 World Championships to tell them he wanted to choreograph a Philip Glass program for them. In the video, Sørensen refers to Cizeron as “a close friend of ours.”

This program would never be competed by Fournier Beaudry and Sørensen because Sørensen’s suspension was announced on October 2nd, 2024, soon after they arrived at the Shanghai trophy, their first competition of the season. In a since-deleted The Skating Lesson video, Dave Lease alleged that Cizeron was with them in China when they found out Sørensen had been suspended. Cizeron planned to be one of their rinkside coaches/choreographers during the competition. (Author’s note: Dave Lease should not be considered a reliable source, but we decided that this information was significant enough to be worth including).

After Sørensen was suspended from the sport for “sexual maltreatment,” Fournier Beaudry and Cizeron teamed up to represent France. Throughout the 2025/2026 season, Fournier Beaudry and Cizeron used this same Philip Glass free skate as their own exhibition program. The same music selection from Fournier Beaudry/Cizeron’s exhibition program is listed as the music for the free dance in Fournier Beaudry/Sørensen’s 2024 ISU Bio.

On May 5th, 2025, three days after their partnership was announced, Fournier Beaudry and Cizeron gave an interview to La Presse. During the interview, Fournier Beaudry defended Sørensen and attempted to discredit his alleged victim by saying “[these are] false and unsubstantiated allegations. I support Nik 100%.  We were very close to each other, but this episode brought us closer together. Through this, in our sport, we often fall, but we learn to get back up and move forward." In the same interview, Cizeron also defended Sørensen by referring to his suspension as an “injustice.” Cizeron’s full statement is as follows:

“It was very difficult to see them go through this ordeal. It's hard to see your friends suffer. Even as a fellow athlete, it's also hard to put yourself in the shoes of another athlete going through something like that. I think the hardest part is the sense of injustice. Stopping your career is something very difficult, and it's even more difficult when it's not you who decided, because it's really your whole life. It's not just an occupation. It's a passion that's driven us since we were children, and it's already a mourning process when everything goes well, even when we stop on a positive note. So to have it stolen from you, or to have the decision to stop stolen from you, any athlete can sympathize with those difficulties.”

Sørensen has been seen attending multiple of Fournier Beaudry/Cizeron’s competitions this season. Fans have confirmed seeing him at the Grand Prix de France, Finlandia Trophy, and the European Championships. While attending these competitions, he has been spotted talking with multiple ice dance coaches, including Fournier Beaudry/Cizeron’s coaches, and watching competitions from the stands (source: tweets and private messages in the image below, usernames redacted for anonymity).

A video was also posted in which Sørensen is seen cheering for Fournier Beaudry and Cizeron after the European Championships medal ceremony on January 17th, 2026. When Fournier Beaudry and Cizeron spot Sørensen in the audience, they wave at him, make heart signs at him with their arms, and Cizeron blows a kiss at him.

Netflix is releasing a documentary series on February 1st titled Glitter & Gold: Ice Dancing. The show follows multiple ice dance podium hopefuls, including Fournier Beaudry/Cizeron. According to a preview of the documentary from The Canadian Press, Fournier Beaudry discusses Sørensen’s suspension in her episode. Fournier Beaudry says, “This was extremely difficult because it was not only about skating, it was about my integrity, it was about his integrity. I know my boyfriend 100 percent. I know him. And we (stood) strong together." This page will be updated after the release of the documentary with any new information.
